.Feb. 1, 2022. It's the year of the Tiger and I am googling how to survive each one of Mercury's retrogrades. I have had my face buried in a laptop finishing my dissertation Confederate Aesthetics: From Reconstruction to Deconstruction, and have graduated from IDSVA, I'm Ph-inally Ph-inished! I'm officially an Art Doctor! I don't know what that means, but I can drop words like "phenomenology" and "ideological apparatus" into casual conversation to agitate my undergrad students.

At the start of quarantine I attended an artist talk where the speaker asked, rhetorically, if the world really needed another one of their paintings. They were sharing a story of when they experienced a profound artist block. Realizing I had hit that same wall, I pushed pause on my writing and painted my way through to see if I could figure out what was going on.
The current work is a culmination of my newest pieces as I have spent the past two years slowing down and looking for the places where my writing and my visual practice intersect.
Satisfied with my breakthrough, I felt I had enough to work with again after I finished writing and could come back to my visual practice, ready to figure out more stuff. That said, I am clearing out space in my studio to prepare for more work, and am selling a few of my smaller pieces. Please visit the gallery of works For Sale on my website to see what is available, and stay tuned for upcoming news! (Not that I have anything particularly exciting going on, but you never know).
