Dangling Modifiers, Binding Lies

collaboration with Lurlynn Franklin

As part of Art/Race/Violence: A Collaborative Response, white artists were partnered with artists of color to engage in critical discourse surrounding the history of racial violence in the city of Memphis. Utilizing performance, poetry, installation and audience participation, Franklin and Williamson explored the origins of racist messages embedded in marketing campaigns and aesthetic objects of "play" directed at children.
