Greg will remind me that I am terrible at documenting my work, but I'm practicing! I'm also terrible at PR, but I'm practicing that as well. Lately I've taken a break from encaustics so I can focus building the exhibit sculptures for The Junkyard Museum (www.thejunkyardmemphis.org). Things are still moving along with my dream project, and I am just about finished playing with plaster and wire for awhile. April 13th I will have these on display along with my newest encaustic pieces. The open studio day was a blast. I got to visit with a few people that saw my post on facebook and brainstorm ideas with two other artists! I hope it is the beginning of many more open studio sessions to come!

Hm, my first blog post, on my new website, in a new studio...what to write, what to write...
Well, as you may have noticed, if you are a facebook friend of mine, I've been in my studio A LOT lately. My new encaustic toy, developed by the very talented Paula Roland, is called a Hot Box. Not only can I pull encaustic monoprints, but I can also heat my surfaces from underneath now. Yay! What does this mean? Lots of experimentation. Lots of mess ups. And lots of fun. I have my first open studio talk/tour/demo this Friday at noon. On April 13th, 2012, I'll be open for the Broad Avenue Art Walk, I'll host an encaustic workshop at St. Mary's, and later in April I will be a part of Greg Belz's spring art show. Then it's off to Peru in May, San Francisco in July, and over to Eclectic Eye in August for my first show of the fall. Stay tuned!
